Road to Self-Sufficiency
(a full continuum of care)

It is well documented that treating women requires a special set of extended services.   Mini Twelve Step House, Inc. has over the years developed an effective continuum of care, coaching women from a residential treatment environment to achieving self-sufficiency within the community in which they live.  Mini Twelve Step House, Inc. defines self-sufficiency as the ability to achieve the following:

  • stable housing
  • stable income
  • family reunification
  • avoidance of incarceration
  • stable health

The Mini Twelve Step House, Inc. has titled this program design the "Road to Self-Sufficiency".  The agency helps clients visualize a journey along a bus line where they board and exit busses at stops along the way.  Throughout the journey, clients move through a continuum of care.  We consider each program a bus stop that clients can board/exit based on their individual needs.

Treatment plans, developed at each stop, are designed to assist clients in altering long-standing patterns of behavior that have historically served as personal barriers to recovery while meeting the physical and psychological needs of each client.  These plans consist of various structures and activities specifically geared toward assisting clients with setting achievable goals that will move them closer to self-sufficiency.  Staff and clients work together to identify objectives at each stage.  A treatment plan is developed to outline these objectives, track success, and identify difficult areas where additional support is needed.

The journey to self-sufficiency begins with the Residential Treatment stop.  Clients then board the bus heading to the Transitional Living stop.  Outpatient Treatment is the third stop, and the final stop is Aftercare Relapse Prevention.  The journey ends when clients are free of their dependencies and have become self-sufficient.
