From the Executive Director:

As we celebrate over thirty-five years of continuous operation, we reflect on the past and look to the future. The commitment and direction this organization has taken over the years have resulted in a high level of expertise recognized and awarded by the community, political stakeholders, and our colleages in the field of alcohol and drug rehabilitation services.
We have been especially committed to continuing education and training of our staff. Aside from our exclusive use of certified counselors. Many staff members are success stories themselves and understand the multiple vulnerabilities and hurdles of the rehabilitative process experienced by the families we serve. The organization has been successful in integrating best practice policies with professional and para professional staff who are dedicated to making a difference in this specialized field. This integration is born of our commitment to ever increasing efficiency, competency and integrity. A pronounced internal commitment to quality programming and staff that grow and develop to meet the unprecedented challenges of the substance abuse recovery industry lead to a partnership with Learning as Leadership http://learnaslead.com. Keeping the doors open with meager resources has required maximum use of intellectual capital. Thanks to Learning as Leadership the Mini Twelve Step House is now a leaderful learning organization with staff and managers that are able to respond to a changing environment with passion, skill, and a commitment to the higher good of the clients and community we serve.
Services have expanded along a specially crafted continuum of care designed to move women and their families from intake and assessment to self-sufficiency. Mini Twelve Step House, Inc., is governed by a board of directors that is committed to the organizations mission and who deeply care about the work we do. The current leadership team has successfully guided the organization around the curve of relentlessly emerging new technology and unprecedented resource scarcity resulting from a shift in the nation's priorities. As we celebrate the election of Barack Obama's presidency, a return to hope and changed has energized the country. The president's principled leadership is an aspiration for all that hold positions created to serve. A link between the president's leadership style and the training of MTSH leadership has been made in the article found at: Visit: http://learnaslead.com/programs/EcosystemLeader.htm for an interesting article written by a conflict resolutions specialist from Learning as Leadership.
Our success is the success of our stakeholders. We celebrate over 35 years of partnership with all levels of community, including political and community leaders; as well as an array of supportive organizations with whom we network and collaborate to continually improve our ability to meet the needs of our clients. These circles of partnerships and collaborations have grown wider and more important each year. We exist because you care.

OPEN THANK YOU LETTER TO FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS OF THE MINI TWELVE STEP HOUSE HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES
Thank you for your support during the Holidays. Whether your bought gifts for the women and their children or donated money to help cover the cost of the holiday festivities, your support is appreciated. Your gifts helped to make the holiday season bearable for families struggling with the devastation of addiction. Entering the Mini House, the women have made a decision to face their past...taking responsibility for all the chaos and hurt caused by addition, then dealing with the relentless guilt. They are especially unforgiving of themselves with sober minds that recognize the immense pain their actions have inflicted upon their loved ones. The ability to participate in Christmas by presenting a present to their children (or in some cases to grandchildren) on Christmas Day is the beginning of broken families coming together building new memories to replace disappointments of the past.
Forging through the holiday season is a sober experience clients will always cherish and relive. The first sober holiday is an important milestone in a new beginning. Sobriety begins the process of garnering and sustaining courage, faith, hope, and gratitude while building sober experiences upon which to learn and grow. Breaking the pattern of drinking and using and learning to cope with life is the challenge. Your generosity is paramount to the building blocks of human perseverance necessary to keep the vision and focus.
Over 300 people and children typically visit the Mini House during the holiday season. Families, friends and children created an intense atmosphere of love and connection. There’s a reason we place such a high priority on the holiday season. We create a mirror of the community where families can learn new coping mechanisms and create holiday traditions absent of alcohol and drugs. At the same time, they are engaged in self-reflection to uncover and address the deeper issues that led them into addiction.
On New Year's Eve, we had our traditional burning bowl ceremony. The women enthusiastically wrote down the flaws and weaknesses that led them into addiction. Ceremoniously, a fire was lit and these writings were engulfed in flame. Afterward, they wrote the strengths and character building experiences they wanted to cultivate in the coming. The writings were heartfelt and emotional. Powerful prayer and a toast to the New Year with Apple Cider ended the event. The yearly Burning Bowl Ceremony gives the women a new, healthy and powerful tradition to replace the behaviors of the past.
This year we will continue to need your financial support as we move into unprecedented challenges in funding. Our commitment to providing services to the same population that depends on our culturally rich services will continue. Again, our deepest thanks for anything and everything done to support the Mini House families.
